Forgot to write about getting my final exam back - 36/40.
I made three stupid mistakes on that test, but overall I think I got an A in the course.

Grammar final
I've had some inquiries about my Grammar final.
The final was this week on Tuesday. I thought it was hard, but fair.
I will likely receive the results in the mail early next week.
I'll let you know.

Dreadful errands (CAUTION: whiny post)
I have a busy day that is starting out with a massage and chiropractic appointment. Normally I would look forward to these ‘treats’. I think I am dreading what comes after the treats: queuing up to get my driver’s license and health card renewed. I am DREADING the transit, the long (I imagine) queues, feeling hot in my winter layers and likely hungry. If I didn’t have the massage at 10am, I would already be on my way to the Ministry of Transportation office to be the first in line when the door opens.
I have another complaint. I never know what to wear when the weather is like this: cold in the morning and warmish in the afternoon. I have figured out that if I take the fleece lining out of my coat and wear a thinish cardigan under the shell I can hit a nice balance. Leaving my beautiful Joy Ripple scarf at home is probably best too.
Enough whining! I shall charge up the iPod, get my crochet ready (something easy for travel), and grab my grammar book (I’m working on tense agreement and commas) to help me enjoy my torture errands. Perhaps a stop in Kensington Market at Ideal Coffee for a latte will curb my crankiness.
Note about commas: confirming my suspicions, I have learned this week that there is a literary trend toward using fewer commas. For example, it is no longer correct to place a comma before the word ‘too’ (see paragraph #2). I don’t like it. It just feels wrong to me.
Other things I should do today: laundry, buy hook and eye at Fabricland (for the finishing touch on the Luscious Stole!), buy a few groceries. The laundry chore also makes me cranky. We live in a low rise, walk-up apartment. We take our laundry across the street to a nice laundry mat with beautiful front loaders. The heaving back and forth across the street is a huge drag (ha ha). But really, it is a drag and I can’t wait to have a house with our own front loaders. I imagine lovely evenings at home doing laundry in my underwear and slippers. No more heaving across the street. Good for me; too bad for my chiropractor.
I feel like I should balance the universe with a little appreciation of what is good about today. Here goes... I do not have to work; I have Hubby's Metro Pass; I can get around the city on my own; something fun and unexpected could happen while I stand in the torture queues; I can crochet while I wait or sit on the streetcar.
Enough blogging. Must go on a wee search for the paperwork for my dreaded renewal errands and then get out of the house.

Sunday studying
Yesterday I was all doom and gloom about struggling with prepositions and adverbs. This morning, after a nutritious breakfast cooked by my sweetie (he regularly spoils me in the food department when he isn't on a full time gig), I sat down and tackled my study blocks once more.
I am feeling much smarter having scored 90% and 100% on some online quizzes! These weren't easy, either. I went about it methodically and applied all the little rules and problem solvers that I've learned over the past few weeks. If those tricks weren't working for me, I just remained calm and went with my gut.
I told Hubby that all I needed was to sleep on it over night and let things percolate a little. Hubby thinks it's the Sunday morning 'exercise', which happened before the nutritious meal, that got my head cleared and confident. 'Exercise' is good for blood flow and stress reduction, so perhaps my brain was better prepared for concentrating afterward.
A couple more hours of this and I will take a crochet break. I haven't picked it up in three days. I am working on cute/cool shopping bags (pattern by Haley) with Super 10 Cotton in nice fall colours. I want to have enough bags for holiday gifts, since the season is approaching. Watch for pictures soon.
Enough procrastinating! Must study or I will not be able to pick up the crochet.
If you try the quiz, let me know your score.
Ta ta for now.

The Worst Ever
I have so many little tid-bits to fill you in on. I've just been SO busy studying for my first grammar test that I could not put finger tips to laptop.Firstly, THE WORST EVER chinese fast food that I have ever tasted; it was phenomenally bad! Over cooked fried rice, gray tasteless chow mein and over breaded processed chicken balls. Really, really, really bad.
I bought this culinary misadventure at a local city college, just before my last grammar class. I wasn't hungry right at that moment, but I knew I would crash and burn within an hour, making it difficult to learn about prepositional phrases. My choices for nourishment were limp salads, day old sandwiches and pizza, and fast food chinese. It was a lost cause from the beginning.
Can you see this?
I was walking home from Stitch 'n Bitch last Wednesday when I came upon these two little critters right in front of Hubby's old building. Actually, they're more like adolescent raccoons than little babes. When I stopped to get a better look at them, these two scurried behind a five inch diameter tree trunk in a comical effort to hide. They hunched there for a couple of moments, peaking out at me. There was a little raccoon discussion. Something like this:
'What the hell are we doing?'
'I don't know, but this is ridiculous.'
'Aw, forget it. Let's eat.'
With that they sauntered back to the garbage bag. Big city raccoons are so nonchalant, so unconcerned. I love it!
Third tid-bit:
I'm digging this Belgian beer, Delirium Tremens. Hubby and I have it when we go to a favourite restaurant. It's fruity, sweet, golden goodness. Disappointing that it's not available in stores.
Last tid-bit:
I am really struggling with prepositions and some adverbs. They're tricky little buggers, some of them. Hopefully, I will get unstuck before Tuesday night's test.
Wish me luck.
